Our staff forms the backbone of the Company and their capabilities are a direct reflection on our ability to supply our clients with a superior and professional service, Homeland Security therefore have designed a very detailed employment process which ensures that the staff employed is properly screened, vetted, checked and complies will of requirements prior to placement with a client.

Our Employment Process

New recruits’ are subjected to an initial interview by middle management to ascertain if they qualify for employment, this interview will include verification of PSIRA registration qualifications, ability to converse in English and S.A. Citizenship.

Once the candidate passes the initial interview phase, he/she will be subjected to an aptitude test which has been designed in order to ascertain the thought processes of the candidate and capabilities to reason, read, write and calculate. A minimum pass rate of 80% is required to ensure that the candidate will be moving on to the next phase.

The Candidate will then be subjected to an online criminal verification check. Once cleared, the will be subjected to a pre-employment polygraph test,  designed to ascertain if the candidate has the integrity required by Homeland Security and questions such as previous
substance abuse, honesty etc. is tested during the Polygraph test.

The candidates that successfully complete the above employment process will then be interviewed by a panel of middle management. Once all interviewers on the panel are in agreement as to the placement of the candidate an offer of employment is extended to the applicant.

Site specific training is the key to the placement of the Officer prior to placement of such an officer on site. Homeland Security extends the option to all our clients whereby they have the right to participate in the final interview with all candidates prior to placement at his site. If the client is not in agreement with the placement of a candidate, he will not be deployed.

Training

Once the Security Officer has been appointed he/she will be inducted into the company. The induction process will inform the guard of all Company Processes and procedures so that he/she is fully aware of our policies and labour law requirements.

Depending on the industry where the Security Officer will be deployed, they will also undergo training in industry-related procedures and basic fire prevention and detection skills.
